Satin is a method of weaving fabric. Satin has a shine to the fabric that is created during the weaving process. The process is achieved by floating the warp threads above the other fibers to create the shiny and seemingly seamless smooth surface of the fabric.

The color and dimensions of the fabric are correct—though the same cannot be said for its quality. The seller claims a silk weight of 150 g/m². I ordered one yard (0.91 m) with a width of 135 cm. The surface area of this piece is 1.22 m², meaning it should weigh 183 g. However, it weighs only 142 g—which is only 116 g per meter or 23% less than the advertised weight. I wouldn't have bothered weighing the fabric at all, but I am highly knowledgeable about silk, and I could tell simply by looking at the material that it did not meet the claimed quality standards.
P.S. The product description states that the silk is 40 momme. One momme is approximately 4.3 grams per square meter. It follows, therefore, that this silk should weigh 172 grams per square meter—or 232 grams for this specific piece. Please correct the product description, as it is misleading to buyers.
